Seniors' Communities / Long Term Care
SPH specializes in conducting planning, design and consultation projects for seniors' residential communities and Long Term Care (LTC) facilities, recognizing the importance of providing inclusive infrastructure for Canada's aging population which continues to grow. This includes participation in projects related to applying inclusive and universal design principles to residential units, as well as ongoing research and advisory projects related to implementing the concepts associated with Visitable Housing, Lifespan Housing, and Adaptable Design, for example.
Project Experience:
- Maple Health Centre, York Region: Conducted comprehensive facility accessibility audit of this Long Term Care facility, with two residential wings, Alzheimer’s Day Centre and common spaces, amenities and health services (85, 000 SF, 2 storeys with basement).
- Newmarket Health Centre, York Region: Conducted comprehensive facility accessibility audit of this Long Term Care facility, with large residential wing, community health facilities, administration offices and common spaces, amenities and health services (160, 000 SF, 2 storeys with walk-out basement).
