In October 2012, the Cadillac Fairview Corporation Limited announced their $350 million revitalization and expansion of Sherway Gardens. The redevelopment will provide for an additional 210,000 square feet of retail space and a remerchandising of 90,000 square feet of existing space.  SPH was retained by DIALOG as Accessibility Consultant to provide accessible design compliance reviews for this project including meeting ongoing AODA legislative requirements.

 
The full renovation will include new flooring, new ceilings throughout common areas, new lighting and a new set of public washrooms. A new three-level parkade will provide customers with 1,200 parking spaces in close proximity to the mall. In addition, the expansion will allow for a significant change to the merchandise mix, increasing the retail area to 1.3 million square feet, including the GTA’s first Nordstrom store and four new full-service restaurants.
 
JOEY and P.F. Chang’s are among the new restaurant brands that will open in Sherway Gardens. The mall transformation will also encompass the expansion of both a west end Harry Rosen flagship store and Sporting Life, and is designed to continue to attract popular brands, includingTiffany & Co. and Forever 21.

Highlights of ths project as identified by Sherway Gardens include:

  • A 'north' expansion will provide an additional 210,00 square feet of retail space bringing the total size of Sherway Gardens to 1.3 million square feet
  • A new relocated food court in the north expansion
  • 4 new full service restaurants, each with a unique dining experience
  • A 19,000 square foot Harry Rosen
  • A new Sporting Life located in the north expansion
  • Saks Fifth Avenue opening in 2016
  • Nordstrom opening in 2017
  • Upon completion approximately 245 stores
  • 3 new multi-storey parkades
  • Realigned ring road with easier navigation


Additionally 90,000 square feet of existing space will be renovated to include:

  • A complete replacement of the ceiling
  • New lighting installed throughout
  • A restoration of the existing floor, made of high quality French limestone
  • New comfort zones
  • Recently renovated restoration of our iconic white tent roof structure, which was originally designed by Eb Zeidler, internationally renowned Toronto based architect.
