Services: AODA Consultation and Accessible Design Compliance

PLANbyDESIGN was retained by the Town of Newmarket to complete a site assessment of town-owned lands located between 171 and 179 Main Street in the Town of Newmarket. This site is located downtown between existing buildings and acted as an access route to neighbouring buildings, the community centre, and the new Riverwalk Park. The purpose of this study was to determine the most efficient, economical and qualitative way to address the site. The issues addressed included, ongoing maintenance costs, the deterioration of the stairs and walls, accessibility design standards/compliance, aesthetics, functionality and the general quality of the overall site. SPH was retained as part of the larger multi-disciplinary team as Accessibility Consultant to conduct a site accessibility audit and to provide strategic recommendatiions to inform a long-term vision for the use, design and layout of the site, including AODA compliance.
