Services: Accessibility Planning / Facility Audits / Consultation

SPH conducted an organizational review of policies, practices and procedures to identify barriers to persons with disabilities and inform the development of CAMH’s Accessibility Plan to meet the requirements of the Ontarians with Disabilities Act (ODA 2001). Conducted an audit of signage and information material to identify potential barriers to communications. Led and assisted with broader consultation with staff, clients and accessibility committee members (e.g., focus groups and key informant interviews), to develop an organizational disability policy, as well as a review of impacts relevant to CAMH’s Diversity Policy and Initiatives. Conducted an environmental scan of best practices related to disability accommodation, diversity and other policies relevant to human resources. Assisted with the development and writing of final ODA Access Plan (2004), supporting the auditing of selected facilities, including the development of a remedial work plan and implementation schedule for accessibility improvements (2004 – 2007).
